Eagles are being bred in zoos and then released into the wild in a couple of places here in Alabama. There are now a couple of breeding pairs in the wild, but unless you live in one of those areas, you probably will never see one, other than in a zoo, I envy you that shot. It is beautiful.

Thank you Don. Different story up here, right now if I was to go down to the river couple miles away I would see at least and I am no kidding at least 5 perched eagles in the trees along the Thompson River. Like this one from last year.

Awesome shots as usual, Sam. Love lookin' at your work, because it shows that you love what you do, and have a passion for the outdoors.

Here is a video I shot with my D3100 a while back of the pair of Eagles that are in the Montgomery. They are both injured and can never be released. One is missing a wing and I think the other one has damage to her wing. They have successfully raised 3 chicks at this point and they have all been released.

What an amazing shot, Sam. I so lust after that lens . . . of course, I'd have to drive to Bosque del Apache wildlife refuge to see the eagles, a couple of resident ones, and they usually perch on a dead tree in the middle of the lake. I think I'd need a 600mm with a teleconverter. Excellent work!

Thank you Helene, If you get a chance to buy one you wouldn't regret it. My advice stick a 1.4 TC(Nikon) on it and keep it on at all times this lens doesn't have a rear element, dust can get into easier - however not so with the TC. The amount of IQ you lose with the 1.4 is well I don't notice it. With the 1.4 gives you 550mm with DX 420FX.

Thanks, Sam. Good to know . . .You wouldn't recommend the 1.7?

I'm waiting and looking for that "bargain" that is going to fall into my lap! Good things are definitely worth the wait.
