Eagles are being bred in zoos and then released into the wild in a couple of places here in Alabama. There are now a couple of breeding pairs in the wild, but unless you live in one of those areas, you probably will never see one, other than in a zoo, I envy you that shot. It is beautiful.

Looks like he's bleeding.. or maybe dirt?
Fantastic details in both shots
What an amazing shot - Awesome
Nice shot Sam. It is worthy of being framed and displayed in any living room.

Very nice shot Sam.We have quite alot of them here on the East Coast too.The best bird in the world.
Awesome shots as usual, Sam. Love lookin' at your work, because it shows that you love what you do, and have a passion for the outdoors.
Awesome shots my friend!
great shots Sam
Here is a video I shot with my D3100 a while back of the pair of Eagles that are in the Montgomery. They are both injured and can never be released. One is missing a wing and I think the other one has damage to her wing. They have successfully raised 3 chicks at this point and they have all been released.
This is my Favourite Eagle shot taken with the D4 & 300mmF4 &1.4TC Such a majestic Bird
What an amazing shot, Sam. I so lust after that lens . . . of course, I'd have to drive to Bosque del Apache wildlife refuge to see the eagles, a couple of resident ones, and they usually perch on a dead tree in the middle of the lake. I think I'd need a 600mm with a teleconverter. Excellent work!
Thank you Helene, If you get a chance to buy one you wouldn't regret it. My advice stick a 1.4 TC(Nikon) on it and keep it on at all times this lens doesn't have a rear element, dust can get into easier - however not so with the TC. The amount of IQ you lose with the 1.4 is well I don't notice it. With the 1.4 gives you 550mm with DX 420FX.
