Hi All..has anyone used this lens and what do you think of it? I see it running for about $650..which seems good for a 2.8 lens...

I was thinking about getting this lens as an alternative to the expensive 17-55mm f/2.8G

I ended up getting a Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 Build-in Motor Di-II LD SP for $385...eventually will likely get the Nikon verson...but for the $$ and the opportunity to get into a faster lens now I have to jump on it...

I purchased a used Nikon 17-55 from someone moving up to FX and don't regret it. It is my most used lens by far.

Well I got the lens below...the closeup focus is great...it is light...focus is fast...focus well in low light..I only have one problem..and it is a huge problem...every one of my pictures is darker than it shood be. I have to set the white balance on +.7 to +1.0 to egt the pictures to come out normally..so what does this mean? The Tamron is not a true 2.8. I guess you get what you pay for...save your money and buy Nikon....

Yep..this lens is crap...when I shoot outside I have to boost the white balance to +2.0 to get pictures to come out right...it is back on eBay...lesson learned...pay a little more and get a Nikon lens worth keeping....
