I just bit the bullet (after much thought) on a mint condition Nikon 12-24 f4 for use on an upcoming holiday where I will be viewing a number of medieval welsh castles, hiking along the south wales coastal path and visiting a few nature reserves and other attractions.
Does anyone want to chip in with examples from this lens/
I will likely fit it to my gripped d7200.

I can't help with the Nikon as I have a Tokina 12-24 F4 but will simply note that a lens like this is indispensable for photography where things are tight.

Pixel-Peeper to the rescue. :)
Seems there's 1400+ images with that lens.

Well, the lens arrived and it came with a loose lens mount.
I sent it back straight away as I feared that it may have been dropped or impacted in some way.
That makes 2 out of 4 ebay lenses that turned out to be turkeys.
The seller has agreed to refund but isnt exactly rushing to reimburse me and I expect to get the refund on friday, a little late to get another for the holiday.

That's a shame. That focal length is equivalent to my 18-35mm f/3.5-4.5G lens on an FX body. It's a fun length especially if you know how to use a wide angle lens. Leading lines work very well with wide angle lenses. Wide angle lenses are also great to showcase what's in the foreground in front of your subject. If you have any fireworks displays, a wide angle lens will be great to capture the blasts.

Hang in there! You'll find something. It doesn't sound like you are in the US. Too bad because B&H has a couple in their used department.

I have had good luck with ebay purchases but not the most recent.
The lens arrived in a oversized box with lots of loose packing. So little packing chips that the lens was rolling around on the bottom of the box.

Just a foot of bubble wrap around the lens should be all that's needed.

Seller offered returns and got it back instantly. Ebay forced an instant refund soon as USPS tracking number was available. I did eat the return postage.
