After 40 yrs using only kind and small lenses like 55 micro nikkor, I believe knowing a few tricks to clean them ;.)

Them big eyes, 14-24, 14mm, 16 mm fish scares me in the topic of cleaning....
And as I now own one of these, that wonderful 14mm samyang/rokinon,
I do need to perfect my skills in the cleaning front lens area.

You who have used them for decades, whats your experiences?

It doesn't matter what the lens is.... cleaning them is all the same. My method:

1. Inspect the lens to see if it even needs cleaning. No sense doing something that isn't needed.
2. Use a Rocket Blower to remove as much loose dust and debris as possible.
3. If there's still something there, use a proper lens-cleaning brush to see if that will remove it.
4. If there's still something there, it's time to get serious. Microfiber cloth (clean to start with!) and lens-cleaning fluid. DO NOT put fluid directly onto the lens. Moisten the cloth instead.
5. Sometimes, one of the steps above needs to be repeated. Do so until you're satisfied.

Sh**** happened today. I was out with my 14 taking some sunsets.

All the sudden a heavy downpour of somathing like wet snow came upon us

I was too slow with that lenscap, resulting in big snowflakes on it.

It's just water. No problem. Wipe it off and you are good to go.

But, but , but..... it might be acid rain. Ha! Sorry, I couldn't resist. Like others have said, it's just water. Probably cleaner than any other you could find to clean your lens.

As long as the snowflake doesn't demand a safe space, a puppy, some play dough and a coloring book, you should be good to go.:encouragement:

You do not want to know what has landed on my 14mm and it is still working great ;) snowflakes will not hurt it.
