Sell Tamron 17-50 for Nikon 17-55?

I have the non-VC Tamron 17-50mm f2.8 on my D7100. Bought it used last fall. I really like the range and have been happy with the lens overall.
I do experience focus hunting indoor at times and the lens 'creeps' down while carrying. That aside, for sub-$300 no complaints.

I may be able to buy a CLEAN Nikon 17-55 f2.8 for under $600. From what I read, it focuses well in low light and is a more solid lens. I could sell the Tamron to cover part of the cost.

Worth an upgrade like this or not?

Thanks.

I've had both and sold the Nikon. I find the Tamron quite lighter and I haven't noticed an IQ difference that would justify me the Nikon.

Man, the more I compare online, the Tamron is very close to the Nikon performance wise. I'd be owner 3 on this Nikon, sounds like it wouldn't be worth the extra $290 (roughly) when it's all said and done.

Tamron has really stepped it up :)

If you're having NAS issues, just go buy something else. Looks like you could use a Tamzooka. Don't forget to posted up in the "latest purchase" thread.Oz

Maybe a bit late but you should consider the Sigma 17-50 2.8.
I have it on my D7100 and it rarely comes off it.

I owned the nikon 17-55 and it was awesome even at2.8. It is rated as a pro lens. In hands you can feel it is a pro glass. I sold in only because of FX transfer...

I had the same Tamron for a short while last year. Sold it after a few weeks because the focus is always off a little on mine and the cursor button doesn't continuous scroll when held down with the Tamron lens on. Recently bought the Nikon 17-55, complete satisfy with it. Sure it is heavier and bigger, but I fully expected that with a DSLR. If I want small, I have a M43 mirrorless and my iPhone.
