Post your fisheye images

I realize that not many of you own one, because they are somewhat of an esoteric lens and can be expensive. But if you have one, post your images here!

This is one of my favorite. It is I-110 which splits our town pretty much right down the middle. In this particular are of it, downtown, both roads do curve but the distortion of the fisheye greatly accentuates it and it bends the lightpole into an arc.

Just joined the Fisheye Owners club.
Bought a Lensbaby 5.8 Fisheye.
Circular Fisheye - Professional Creative Lens for Canon and Nikon SLR Cameras

Arrived yesterday.
Have only taken a few images - but in addition to the new way of seeing things I"m having to learn to shoot manual as this is a non-CPU lens.
Anyone else out there shoot with this lens?
I find focusing a challenge. I find that using the liveview magnified helps but it is a skill I need to hone.

A few images taken of the Totem Poles at the Cold Lake Marina in Alberta Canada.
Getting sharper at this manual focus thing.
Having to learn to read they hyperfocal gauge on the lens.
And manual exposure by juggling ISO, Shutter and Aperture.
Lots of trial and many errors. Glad I'm not shooting film.

What is the reflection on the outside of the circle? Is that a reflection showing up from inside the lens?

Mmm....hyperfocal scale. Woo-hoo! Love using lenses that offer that feature!

Some circular FE's have a lot of flare that is recorded outside the image circle. Personally, I edit that out in post.

Ahh...something I didn't know about fisheye lenses! Thanks for the info, Sparky. :)

Actually that halo is an intended feature

"Polished internal barrel for creative flare & reflection outside the image circle"

I suppose one can edit it out but I kinda like it.

And editing it out would be a challenge if you wanted to keep the circle (maybe my crop tool has "circle" as option but never noticed it).

It looks like you're shooting a DX lens on an FX body, given the real estate that shows up around the image.

I tried the Lensbaby Fisheye 5.8 in DX crop mode on my D610 and what I found is that the top and bottom edge of the outer rim are cut off. Seems a bit of a shame because it is almost there on DX. I've lent my D5100 to my daughter for a holiday so can't try it on that camera. I did read about this in a review - it works fine in either but there is a lot of black unused space on in FX so you do need to crop afterwards but if you want the full circle you need FX - on DX you almost get the full effect of the outer rim but makes it look like you cropped it a little too close with the top and bottom flattened. (will process a pic later and post it to show what I mean).

FX vs DX right from the camera
Notice that you lose the bottom and top of the halo in DX
NOW these are both shot on a D610 FX camera - one in FX mode one in DX mode.
I will mount this lens on my D5100 when I get it back from my daughter after her trip to Newfoundland.

And now for some Artsy Funsy Photos - playing in the backyard with a fisheye and then post production fun in Corel's Paintshop Pro - trying to "see in a new way" as the Lensbaby promo line goes.
