“What dreams may come . . .”
Weekly Challenge: March 4 – March 11 (2012)

The Soul of Home.jpg

We work and play hard during the day, and then we go to sleep and dream. If we’re lucky, the dreams are sweet and refreshing. Some are so vivid and real that we don’t want to wake up or try to return to sleep so that we can complete the dream. Some sages and philosophers question which is the true “reality” –the waking state or the dream state. Your challenge for this week is to portray a “dream”. It can be a dream you had, wish you had, and/or a total fabrication. Put some thought and creativity into this –it’s your chance to let your imagination fly, and lets keep the NSFW images out (e.g. naked Angelinas, etc.) Be as creative or mundane as you like.

Here is the judging criteria: Each criterion is equal in weight (25%)

Story Telling
refers to the image’s ability to evoke imagination. One beautiful thing about art is that each viewer might collect his own message or read her own story in an image.
Lighting—the use and control of light—refers to how dimension, shape and roundness are defined in an image. Whether the light applied to an image is manmade or natural, proper use of it should enhance an image.
Creativity is the original, fresh, and external expression of the imagination of the maker by using the medium to convey an idea, message or thought.
Composition is important to the design of an image, bringing all of the visual elements together in concert to express the purpose of the image. Proper composition holds the viewer in the image and prompts the viewer to look where the creator intends. Effective composition can be pleasing or disturbing, depending on the intent of the image maker.

Be sure to visit the Weekly Challenge Rules & Guidelines for more information. This thread will be closed on March 11 (midnight EDT)...so get those photos in!

The Rules
1. Photos must be posted to the thread in order to be considered for the challenge.
2. Any photo submitted for a weekly challenge must be taken during the dates specified in the challenge thread and taken by you! Because not all EXIFdata can be verified, we will use the honor system here.
3. Challenges will be judged solely by the panel. Individual voting via post "likes" will be incorporated into the final selection of the winning photo.
4. Only one photo entry per member, for each challenge.

There will be no cash or prizes awarded for the Weekly Challenge, unless specifically noted by the site administrator. This is a member-run contest, and the purpose of the Weekly Challenge is to encourage member participation on the forums and to keep you taking pictures!

Any photo will be accepted for the challenge. Edited/straight out of the camera, it does not matter. You are left with complete freedom to do whatever genre of photography you wish to do, and your own interpretation of the challenge subject.

Due to the generally erotic nature of 99.9% of my dreams, I respectfully decline from this exercise, as it would be impossible not to offend someone. :)

Ya mean we're NOT supposed to offend someone?

What the hell is this crap?

Dude, my day isn't complete unless I offend EVERYONE! :)
