Long Exposures: STM's Choice

Let's see how creative you can be! Color, B&W, HDR...anything goes!

DO NOT SHOOT OR POST IMAGES UNTIL WEDNESDAY Aug. 19

Photos must be taken and submitted between 00:00 UTC of the start date and 23:59 UTC of the end date.

The Rules

1. Photos must be captured with a Nikon and appear in the thread with EXIF info in order to be considered for the challenge. If the forum EXIF viewer does not show for any reason, listing the camera and capture date/time below the photo is acceptable. Listing exposure info, lens & focal length is encouraged so others can learn.

2. Any photo submitted for a weekly challenge must be taken during the dates specified in the challenge thread.

3. Only one photo entry per member for each week, unless otherwise noted.

4. All regularly active members of Nikonites are allowed to participate, including moderators and administrators.

5. This is intended to be a FUN challenge. No critiques unless specifically asked. Also, please limit posts to just photos and brief descriptions/titles. Any comments/discussion should occur elsewhere, PLEASE.

Voting

During the submission & like periods, please click the Thanks/Like button to vote for your favorite images. You can vote for as many as you want! At the end of the week, you will have the opportunity to vote again for the top 3 photos for this challenge!

There will be no cash or prizes awarded for the Weekly Photo Challenges, unless specifically noted by the site administrator.

Any photo will be accepted for the challenge. Edited or straight out of the camera, it does not matter. You are left with complete freedom to do whatever genre of photography you wish to do, and your own interpretation of the challenge subject.

@STM would you please edit your post and list the EXIF? At a minimum, the date and camera model - and if possible, the aperture and shutter speed. Thanks!

This site has a problem posting EXIF. The requirement for EXIF should be dropped until site has been updated IMO. The prize money for winning is not enough to encourage members to cheat.

The EXIF is missing in Firefox, too, so it doesn't have anything to do with this forum. Please keep this thread on track with photo submissions for the weekly challenge. Thanks.

Sorry about that I post processed it and posted it this morning in a hurry this morning and orgot to include the EXIF. My fiance and I drove up down from Pawleys Island, SC back to Gainesville and did not get in until around 1:45am. yesterday with a stop in Charleston where I took this photo. I am getting ready to move all of my stuff from Gainesville to SC. We have been busy packing so I apologize for the late reply. I amended my post.

Hi all. It's been a long time without publishing.
This is the old fountain of a Benedictine monastery converted into a hotel... A Guarda, Galicia, Spain.

Nestor Stura, your EXIF is completely stripped - it doesn't display on Firefox or Chrome, and I even downloaded the image to check. Please be sure to edit your post and at a minimum include your camera body and date taken. Thanks!

Hi Cindy.
My apologies, I am on vacations and using my phone for editing and developing.
I do not know how to see the EXIF. I am attaching the only details I found in the photo.
Cheers and take care.

What you added to the original image is fine now. Thanks!

Is that a single 66 minute exposure, or a stack of a whole bunch of shorter ones? What'd you use for a tracking mount?

Roscoe

Single exposure, handheld against my chest while laying on my back in the grass. ;)JK.

Its a stack of many shorter ones (about 2 minutes each) while mounted on a Sky Watcher Star Adventurer using a D7500 & 70-300 AF-P f4.5-5.6E. Stacked in Sequator and processed in Photoshop.

I've got a Skyguider Pro which I've only tried to use a couple times, but I've not gotten images as good as yours. I use Deep Sky Stacker. I was going to to something astro related for this week's challenge, but we've had cloudy nights here for the last week...

Thanks for the kind words! Keep practicing the motions, the learning curve is pretty quick once it starts to click. Its frustrating how many steps there are just to get one end result picture but when all the stars align, (ha!) it's pretty rewarding.
