"Tradition" (Nestor.Stura)'s Choice

Any tradition: local, city, country or family tradition which can be food, feast, dance, dress, whatever
. A little explanation about the tradition is not necessary, but would be nice. Let's see how creative you can be! Color, B&W, HDR...anything goes!

DO NOT SHOOT OR POST IMAGES UNTIL WEDNESDAY Aug. 14
This early announcement of the topic is to give a little think time, before the challenge begins. Photos must be taken and submitted between 00:00 UTC of the start date and 23:59 UTC of the end date.

The Rules

1. Photos must be captured with a Nikon and appear in the thread with EXIF info in order to be considered for the challenge. If the forum EXIF viewer does not show for any reason, listing the camera and capture date/time below the photo is acceptable. Listing exposure info, lens & focal length is encouraged so others can learn.

2. Any photo submitted for a weekly challenge must be taken during the dates specified in the challenge thread.

3. Only one photo entry per member for each week, unless otherwise noted.

4. All regularly active members of Nikonites are allowed to participate, including moderators and administrators.

Voting

During the submission & like periods, please click the Thanks/Like button to vote for your favorite images. You can vote for as many as you want! At the end of the week, you will have the opportunity to vote again for the top 3 photos for this challenge!

There will be no cash or prizes awarded for the Weekly Photo Challenges, unless specifically noted by the site administrator.

Any photo will be accepted for the challenge. Edited or straight out of the camera, it does not matter. You are left with complete freedom to do whatever genre of photography you wish to do, and your own interpretation of the challenge subject.

A longtime tradition here in the USA is to serve Turkey for a Thanksgiving meal. Whether this one will ever make it to a table is anyone's guess since it is wild and roaming freely - on the grounds of William Penn's former homestead. ;)

Duck hunting on Thanksgiving morning, the opening day of duck season, has been a tradition of mine for the past 40+ years. Robin does not mind, it gets me out of her way.

Much to my wife's chagrin, I traditionally get to about the halfway point of the yard before succumbing to the scent of our mint bushes and stopping for a julep....

(And by "stopping", I mean "stopping for the day".)

Daily, since 1880, a group of Granaderos march 120m from our President office to the mausoleum of Gral. San Martin at Buenos Aires Cathedral. There they custody the rests of San Martin, leader of the army during our independence war of South America.

Maybe more history than tradition, but...........................

Father Eusebio Francisco Kino was one of the early Spanish explorers of the deserts of the American Southwest. Kino arrived in Mexico City in the spring of 1681. In 1683, he began his longtime mission to the Pima Indians in Pimeria Alta, a district comprising present-day southern Arizona and the northern portion of Sonora State in Mexico. In 1687, Father Kino established his first mission among the rural Indians of Sonora at Nuestra Senora de los Dolores. It became the headquarters for his explorations, as well as for the founding of other missions, including San Xavier del Bac (1700) near Tucson, Guevavi and Tumacacori.
