    Stop Action

    Weekly Challenge July 6-13

The winner of the Cutlines challenge was AxeMan. He has chosen the subject for this week's challenge and will be judging these entries.

STOP! Time to crank up those shutter speeds! This week your challenge is stop action photography. It's a fast paced world out there I want you to find something that moves and stop it in its tracks with a photograph.

Stop action photography is quite simple and can create astounding images. This is a simple open challenge this week so I will be judging you very hard. I want to see little if any motion blur in your shots. However the faster the subject is moving the more forgiving I'll be, and the slower the subject is moving the less forgiving I'll be.

I expect to see a lot of "wow" shots this week!

Be sure to visit the Weekly Challenge Rules & Guidelines for more information. This thread will be closed on July 13th...so get those photos in!

    The Rules

    1. Photos must be posted to the thread in order to be considered for the challenge.
    2. Any photo submitted for a weekly challenge must be taken during the dates specified in the challenge thread and taken by you! Because not all EXIF data can be verified, we will use the honor system here.
    3. Challenges will be judged solely by the winner of the previous week. There will be no individual voting.
    4. Only one photo entry per member, for each challenge.

There will be no cash or prizes awarded for the Weekly Challenge, unless specifically noted by the site administrator. This is a member-run contest, and the purpose of the Weekly Challenge is to encourage member participation on the forums and to keep you taking pictures!

Any photo will be accepted for the challenge. Edited/straight out of the camera, it does not matter. You are left with complete freedom to do whatever genre of photography you wish to do, and your own interpretation of the challenge subject.

And is therefore not eligible for this challenge. Cool shot though.

Dave.....no offense, but, the only thing in focus are the leaves in the foreground. The idea of stop motion is to "freeze" the main subject, which in this case would be the young girl jumping into the lake.

Jack, as I said in the caption of the other picture, that shot was intended just for fun. Sometimes it is hard to get a shot in for a challenge, especially when you are out of the country and your main objects are historical sights! I shoot sports all the time. I just finished shooting the university softball team for their entire season. Action shots are a specialty.

Staying within the rules of the challenge, I shot the replacement picture today in the park. I got him with both feet off the ground as he reached for first base!!!

Ah! OK, Dave. Sorry about that. My bad. You obviously know what you're doing then. Perhaps I should have read more before I posted. I was going through a lot of posts last night and today.....my mind wandered is my only excuse.

I love that picture!!! I always wanted to skateboard when I was a kid, but I could not go 10-feet without falling. You got a great picture of a kid doing something I can only dream about doing! Props to you and the boarder!!!
