Weekly Challenge: June 1 - June 8

cmsauvign2 was the winner of the "Street Photography" Weekly Challenge and issued the "Reflections" Weekly Challenge and has chosen the winner.

Your challenge for the Week of June 1 - June 8 is Sky: Look up at the sky and find beauty, something awesome, eerie, ominous. Maybe some lightning, a sunset, or a tornado perhaps? Be careful, and show me something cool!

Be sure to visit the Weekly Challenge Rules & Guidelines for more information. This thread will be closed on June 8 (midnight EDT)...so get those photos in!

The Rules

1. Photos must be posted to the thread in order to be considered for the challenge.
2. Any photo submitted for a weekly challenge must be taken during the dates specified in the challenge thread and taken by you! Because not all EXIF data can be verified, we will use the honor system here.
3. Challenges will be judged solely by the winner of the previous week. There will be no individual voting.
4. Only one photo entry per member, for each challenge.

There will be no cash or prizes awarded for the Weekly Challenge, unless specifically noted by the site administrator. This is a member-run contest, and the purpose of the Weekly Challenge is to encourage member participation on the forums and to keep you taking pictures!

Any photo will be accepted for the challenge. Edited/straight out of the camera, it does not matter. You are left with complete freedom to do whatever genre of photography you wish to do, and your own interpretation of the challenge subject.

Love is in the Air

So I looked up in the sky and this cloud immediately reminded me of a heart.

Great blue sky shot.
Funny thing is I saw it as a laughing Koala bear. :) Big round ears in the top right corner and then
the nose is the patch of sky.

Good news, bad news, and more bad news.

Good News - There is not a cloud in the sky and my daughter has a swimming party planned with several friends. They have been out of school for a week and they already miss each other. I'm going to spend the entire afternoon and evening at the grill feeding hungry teenagers!!! There is nothing better than that!!! I love that we are the gathering spot!

Bad News 1 - There is not a cloud in the sky so there is nothing but a big blue sky to shoot. No depth, nothing of interest, nothing to look at and think it is pretty.

Bad News 2 - There is not a cloud in the sky and we sure need some rain. If it were to rain this week my picture would be of rain coming out of the sky. We have only had 1.45" in the past two months and 4 days. About 80% of my grass is drying up. The farmers are losing their entire crops. The hay is not growing and the cattle farmers are starting to panic. We really need some clouds in the sky, and we need some moisture to fall from those clouds.

Ok, now I have one to submit. Handheld at ISO 3200, giving it that grainy look. Quarter moon through the clouds, making it look like a half moon.

Jack,

The filter I use is a Tiffen UV Haze 1. It is a great filter for UV control. The sky looked exactly like you see it. Sad thing is that there was a lot of rain in our area, but not one drop at my house.

I don't know why, perhaps it is because of the flatness of Louisiana, but we get beautiful skies quite often. We also get beautiful "Western Sunsets" from time to time. As a kid in Virginia I used to lay on the ground and look at the clouds and imagine pictures. The kids in Louisiana could play that game very well!

Took this June 4th on the hill behind my house, Tug Hill region of Upstate Ny. I was hoping to get some shots today but its all gloomy not even a decent cloud formation.

I've been looking at the sky trying to find something that will fit with the category.
After all, you guys already got the Sunbeams and Clouds and Moon and Storms.

Then last night the Idea came to me. Why not shoot the dishes on the roof at one of the local TV Stations. They're in the same building I work in. My only decision was do I shoot the front or back. I chose back because they're looking away from us.
The dishes are focused at the sky.
