Doorways
Weekly Challenge Jan. 11-19

This week's challenge is very straightforward and simple. Take your best shot of a doorway. Get those creative juices flowing...the shot can be straight on of a closed multi-colored doorway like the example, or you can shoot an open door showing shadows and looking into another scene.

Be sure to visit the Weekly Challenge Rules & Guidelines for more information. This thread will be closed on Jan. 19th...so get those photos in!

The Rules

  1. Photos must be posted to the thread in order to be considered for the challenge.
  2. Any photo submitted for a weekly challenge must be taken during the dates specified in the challenge thread and taken by you! Because not all EXIF data can be verified, we will use the honor system here.
  3. Challenges will be judged solely by the winner of the previous week. There will be no individual voting.
  4. Only one photo entry per member, for each challenge.

There will be no cash or prizes awarded for the Weekly Challenge, unless specifically noted by the site administrator. This is a member-run contest, and the purpose of the Weekly Challenge is to encourage member participation on the forums and to keep you taking pictures!

Any photo will be accepted for the challenge. Edited/straight out of the camera, it does not matter. You are left with complete freedom to do whatever genre of photography you wish to do, and your own interpretation of the challenge subject.

Great Pics...guys...U know you all ROCK....right?
I hope I get to get out of the house to take mine (if not I will have to be creative with something around here)..I have two sick kids, so getting out right now is out of the question....Amanda

Priorities first! Take care of the kids. You can always shoot later. Hint: lots of chicken soup. Works wonders. :)

My babies always come first....they are my life and joy..and today they are up and playing so things are looking good....My oldest (he is 5) has been telling us all the places we need to go to take pictures when he is better...he is going to be a great photographer..he already knows how to use my camera and does such a wonderful job....

I might get flamed and if I'm wrong I apologize in advance.
Since there are only 2 doorway pics posted so far, I'd like to post one that is NOT ADMISSIBLE for the contest since it was taken outside the time frame allowed.
But, I find this doorway interesting.

DSC_0142.jpg

It's from a toy store in Barcelona. There's the parent's door and the child's door. I also like the "sorry I just walked into your picture" face on the right.

If there was an open time category for this subject, this is the one I would have entered.

Thank you for reading (and understanding) the rules of the Weekly Challenge and marking your submission as inadmissible. And...it's a great photo!

There are still photos in this thread that need to be removed. Photos posted here must be taken during the dates specified!

Sorry, I did not have any other door pic. Thought this one would be very interesting. I took it in Old town, the oldest area of Stockholem, Sweden. I never thought of how old it was, or when I took it.

I removed my entry after having misread the date. Since it was a weekly contest and the pic was taken on the sunday...
Sorry for my confusion.

Marcel, I like both of your shots. Not only do they both tell a story, they are both very well composed and sharp. Nice job.

Thanks Jack. I've got to admit the one thing I really like about the D 7000 is the 100% viewfinder coverage. What you see is what you get. With the D90, I always ended up with something I had not seen since it was out of my view.
