Using cheesy filters for wedding photos

I just saw the latest wedding photos come across in my Facebook news feed and I literally lol'ed. The photographer used some really cheesy filters on the photos, including color select, circular gradients, gaussian blur, and bad black & white editing. Not to mention the poses are TERRIBLE. The groom looks like a stalker and the bride couldn't look more awkward.

The worst part is the couple is obviously happy with the photos. WTF?!? I realize that not everyone can afford an expensive (good) photographer, but if I was in that situation I wouldn't post 100 of possibly the worst wedding photos I've ever seen. Maybe I would just pic 5 that I liked. hah!

I wish I could post the original pics, but I'm not that much of an a-hole.

I prefer to be the extra photographer and capture more non staged shots, I know formal shots are part of the menu, but some are so stiff, sounds like someone is in love with CS, better to get it right in the camera, with just minor edits.

so mr admin guy you are a qualified wedding photographer then ....well I dont know do I ....just looked at your images and a bird and a cat was the only hot blooded stuff I saw...??
so where can we find these bad photos to learn from ?

That's always funny to see talent worse than yours, and yet you're not getting the jobs. Love it. Can you sense my sarcasm here?

I think wedding photography should be classy black and white, or possibly a TAD overdone in colour. Either works. But nothing works without the poses being "right" for the couple. If they look like they're straining to smile for a camera, then the shot is lost, not worth taking or putting up.

I feel for you, sounds like you should have gotten the gig!

Hold on - I'm was in no way saying I'm a qualified wedding photographer, or even a photographer for that matter, but I do know a good photo when I see it. As I stated, I'm not going to post their photos out of respect, and since they're not public, but you can imagine.

Sometimes bad is what people like. There is no accounting for taste. I shot weddings back in the dark ages and I had a set number of stock poses that people wanted and liked but I always added the candid shots that no one ever wanted to pay for up front but I shot them anyway. Those were always the money makers. They would buy enlargements of so many of them that my profit margin would usually double. The funny thing is that those were the ones I really enjoyed shooting.
I hated shooting wedding and so decided I would double my price and when I did that I got more weddings to shoot. People figured that if I cost more then I must really be good.
