Made the most of a terribly rainy wedding day by shooting inside once the downpour started luckily it was after the ceremony), but couldn't help but get myself and my assistant wet for this awesome shot.

Both ISO 1000, 1/40th @ f/4.0
Taken on a D4 with the 24-70f/2.8 @ 28mm

Wonderful shot. How was the bride when you asked her to stand in the rain?

She was surprisingly fine with it. I was more worried about her silk dress getting wet than she was. We tried this shot out in the open - they were married at a golf course, but it was way too windy and the rain was coming in at a 45 degree angle. I wasn't happy for the bottom of her dress to get wet so I said we would leave it until it calmed down a bit.

We went inside and did a few shots and I saw this little gap between two buildings - no wind, vertical rain meant we could go out and as long as the umbrella was over them she wouldn't get wet. Both me and my assistant got saturated but was well worth it.

Awesome! I love these backlit rain shots! any tips? I was thinking of trying it in the garden/yard.

I usually under expose the shot ever so slightly - can always bring up the shadows in post. You need the flash as bright as you can go without blowing out the highlights.

Rear curtain sync as always.

Excellent

Under expose - Yes I do that anyway it I baffling how much detail you can recover post isn't it, no chance with heavy highlights though.
Flash a full power - awesome, I think i'll pop a transparent bag on it too as mine are cheapy Yongnuo units. I'll just play with the distance behind the subject my units are not as powerful as your SB900s.
Rear curtain sync - will do.

Now, just for the rain - shouldn't be long here in the UK

Many thanks :encouragement:
