Well 1st one because it is a damn fine camera, and it can take awesome photos if I learn to skillfully use it! The 2nd D700 is to have a full frame backup, a camera to sport that second lens you debated yourself on using, lastly I really want 2 of this wonderful model my friends! Lol :)

my fear with the D700 is the single memory slot. but this is me as a pro shooting weddings thinking. but for day to day it would suit me just fine.

but besides that 2 is better than 1. great for shooting 2 different focal lengths on the fly.

Do you not still have the D300? Just keep that as the backup. There is no need for 2 700s.

I guess we just don't see eye to eye on this my friend. But yes I do have the D300. In fact I have two of them, one as a back up for the first one.Even if it made sense to nobody but me, I'm still convinced it's a good move for me and my goals. :)

But thank you for your advice buddy! :)

Bill, here is my rationale in thinking. While it's nice to have one type of body... The next would be better than the other.
Take for example... My D90 back up to my D300s. When I replace my D90 it would only be better than itself. That being said. My next upgrade would be a full frame to compliment the D300s (ie. D700/800/800e/810/DF) I feel no need for repetitive bodies, unless I was doing one with grip and one without, or something I would use specifically for a type of job (ie underwater body specifically).

Re: Want to buy a D700 on payment plan

Oh I understood, but for me the method I use works well. But I am selling one of my D300 Nikon's , back to the buddy I bought it from. The D700 is my main Nikon model now, so this works out fine. But I also want to stick to these lower MPs nikons to keep my lens cost low as I can while still having good Nikkor af-d glass! The higher MPs Nikon's can really need sharper AF-S glass for good results!:)

So while I understand your reasoning my friend, I'm just doing what I believe will work best for me on my budget! :)
