D7000 with lower shutter count

Just my opinion, but a D7k with a low shutter count may only be a couple of hundred dollars off a new one. Why not spring for the new body and get the one year warranty?

I spent weeks checking prices everywhere. I found one with less than 3k clicks but it was near the price of new. I was ready to settle on refurb but went with new at the last minute. I had the money. My only doubt was that maybe I should have spent the couple hundred more for the 7100. Mine should be here in a few days and I am sure I'll be plum tickled to death anyway.

Dave, that is my only doubt.. whether I should just wait and get the 7100... I have been tossing that back & forth..

The difference with you is that the 7000 is the same sensor as the 5100. You image quality would not change but you would get upgraded features like the commander mode. Rancher was moving up from the 3100. He will see more of an improvement.

Does anyone really need slightly better image quality (likely not even evident and especially so on an internet forum) than what the D7000 provides or the 3100 for that matter? I guess the D7100 is going to "magically" make superior images? Really?

I find it hard to believe this logic.

D7000 is way more camera than most folks will ever need.

Does anyone really need a Corvette? This hobby (for those of us who are Hobbyist) is not always about need. Sometimes it is just about WANT. I am trying to get my wife to fall in love with my D5100 so I can buy the D7100. Will it make me a better photographer? NO Will I have more fun? YES

Yeah so someone who drives a 2011 Corvette needs a 2012 corvette huh? Yeah right.

Another thing...most folks who drive Vettes...don't know how to drive. Way to much car. LOL ;)

No hobbyist needs to upgrade but life is more than just getting what we need. Getting what you want just makes life a little sweeter.

Be careful what you wish for you might get something like a D600 that throws oil and shutter shavings all over the sensor every 250 images...the upgrade that keeps on giving :(

But to get back on topic...interesting that several places on the net are fresh out of used D7000 stock.

Good point Don, and maybe that is part of what has been rolling loose in my mind... (most stuff in there is loose and/or rusted)

Thanks for the feedback everyone. :) There's definitely features I've been waiting patiently to get, like exposure bracketing, flash commander mode, in body focus motor, better iso, two card slots, etc.

Nikon D7000 Digital SLR Camera Body - Factory Refurbished includes Full 1 Year Warranty $739.95 They are running $700 used. so spring for the Refurb with a one year warranty. Nikon should send you one for free for this forum.

Yeah, I actually saw that after I posted this and complicated going the refurb route. Nikon should just send me one, you're right ;)

I just might - seems like a safer route to go.

I have a D7k but I'm not ready to part with it yet. I still use it as a back-up or when I need to bring two lenses so that I don't need to swap lenses.
