Music video shot entirely on a Nikon

Last month my crew and I shot a music video for a band with a really cool song.

The shooting was done entirely with Nikon D7100 and D3300.

Of course the difference between the D7100 and D3300 was apparent in post production since with the correct lighting the D7100 had absolutely no noise in it's shots and the ISO never went over 800 but the D3300 was struggling at times and even produced footage with noise that really wasn't usable at the end.

But all in all either than the fact that the footage coming from both cameras is highly compressed and a lot harder to manipulate in post but all in all I have to say I was really impressed with the performance with the D7100 and how the whole project looks in the end.

Here it is :)

Ok, spotted a blooper in the video... When she pulls the ring off of her finger and throws it on the table, why was the ring on her right hand?

Great music.

Actually we still used quite a lot of the D3300 shots just a bunch of denosing was needed on some of them. But never the less even though the shots from the D3300 were of lower quality to the D7100 they were still in the quality of the shot prevailed versus the quality of the image and the shots were still in the good enough dynamic range that color correction was possible to match up the shots.
One other difference was that the D7100 was used with only older manual M42(35mm F1.2, 70mm F2.2, 22mm F2.2 primes) lenses with a fast aparature but the D3300 used only Nikon lenses most of the time ether the the 55-200mm that varied the aparature with varying the focal length and a 50mm F1.8 witch did it's job really well.

My girlfriend who was also the director of photography and the main camera operator on this video has a really great sense of how to get the shots that we had preplaned in the script and story board and is really good at interpreting my wishes of some of the shots that I want but she also prefers to be future away from the subject and then uses a tele lens to get in closer verses getting closer and using a prime lens like the 50mm but with the zoom lenses that change the aperture it becomes harder match the luminosity of the other shots done by faster lenses.

As far as the ring goes. I honestly don't know. It was on her right hand because he previously put in on her right hand because that's what our ceremonial consultant (aka my girlfriends mother ;) ) said was the appropriate hand for an engagement ring.

As far as the music goes. When I was first approached by the band's representative and heard the initial version of the song that was ultimately to become the final version used in the video I was really excited to create a music video for them because I loved the back story of how it became to be and loved the sound of the song so the video is aquatically just my and my girlfriends interpretation of showing the story behind the creation of the music.

It was actually my first music video that I had produced and directed and I'm actually really happy with it and proud of our whole crew who believe in me and my girlfriend when we said that we wanted to start our own movie production and are supporting us in anyway they can to help us make it a reality.
So I really hope that this video is just one of many to come and we're actually talking with a few other bands already and already planing the new video for this one. :)

Anyway thanks guys.

Thanks. :)
It was a lot of work and challenging working with these DSLRs.
I'm really happy with picture that they produced even though the compressed format is limited while color grading and the it's a little hared to edit with the compressed format.

My team and I are already in production of four new music videos.

Best regards
