Why there is no audio or sounds on my video capture using my D5100? Is there any settings or codec that i need to install in my computer?

Please help me. TIA!

You should have a mono sound at a minimum. Can you hear the sound if you play the video using your camera? If you can, that means the issue is with your software.

I've only used the video once on my D5100 and didn't have to do anything special on my computer to view it. Sound worked fine.

Possibly a discrepancy between PAL and NTSC format? Asia uses PAL, I think. Not sure, but NTSC is essentially AVI and should be able to be played by all systems.

Locate your microphone and see if you may accidentally cover it with your hand when shooting. Has happened to me with smaller point and shoot cameras in particular.

so it is possible that my camera is defective?

So you have good video but no sound output.

Try asking someone who has a microphone and see if it can record the sound. If it still doesn't work, then it's time to send it to your authorized technician if that is something that you are willing to pay for.

Yes, the video quality is good, only the audio is the problem.
