Looks like Nikon's luck (or bad luck) continues

Nikon D7100: Problem with Aperture in Video - YouTube

I do not believe it is luck at all Dave.
it is just plain complacency & unprofessionalism at work here.

I can't believe that someone has not sued the crap off Nikon yet.
They have built a reputation of being the very best but recent issues are showing a lack of leadership which is just appalling.
First the D600 had the oil spill issue.
Which honestly i thought & believed that Nikon would own up to it & offer a replacement to all D600 owners - no questions asked.
But hey, they came back with a lack lustre response & worse! They expect folks to either do this by themselves or take it to a center.
Come on, anyone would be heart broken to have a brand new $2k camera being taken in for repairs within a few days of being opened..
It's like taking a new born baby into the ICU.. which will pain like hell...

And now the never-ending issues with the D7100...
Either Nikon really doesn't care about their customers or something is up that we have no clue about.
Quality control is up the pole & it doesn't look like it is getting better.

Thoroughly disappointed with you Nikon.. Never did expect this from you!

I had problems with my D3100 when I bought it. Returning it for service only made it worse. When I returned it to BestBuy after they had tried to fix it they just handed me a new one in the box. The second one was perfect. I got the D5100 as a refurb and I actually think it is better than new. Someone had to check it by hand to make sure it was all correct. I still love my Nikon but I do think the quality control is slipping. Maybe they need to quit making so many different models and concentrate of making the more limited model lineup better.

How many different models are presently in production including all the CoolPix and up?

I have/had - D200,300,700,800,7000,D3s,D4, the only body that gave me any problems was the D7000 I had to send it in to have the focus adjusted. That's it. No problems even with the D800 and it was one of the 1st.

Yes, it's a "design decision". Canon chose to not support old lenses and support aperture control. Nikon chose to support old lenses, which means if I'm not mistaken that there is a lever that controls aperture, and as there is one motor which controls mirror and aperture, when mirror is up for video, motor is busy and can't control aperture. The only thing they could do is include another motor, which they did in one of the more expensive Nikons.

I'm more worried in the bug with shutter-priority auto, which simply put doesn't work in video - no way to lock shutter to 60 in 30p for example, other than M mode.

Gee new DSLR cameras are becoming a bit like the Toyota Prius...full throttle without even pushing the pedal...100 mph after about a mile....LOL

Wonder if the newest models will have fire starter batteries like the new Boeings?

Total recall... :)
