Batch renaming JPegs

Good Morning all.
I need a bit of help please.
I have a Flickr site, and take thousands of pictures of trucks.... (Here is the linkhttps://www.flickr.com/photos/161586798@N08/?)

When I get home after shooting some Trucks, and i have sorted them all out, I catalogue them in my Excel database.
So when I have finished cataloging them, I then upload to Flickr, with the Registration Number and company, I need to copy and paste from my Excel sheet to the title box in Flickr.....Sometimes I upload around 200 at a time.

My Question is....
Is there a way of batch renaming the files from Excel to the JPeg without copying and pasting each into Flickr so when I upload them, the Title is already done for me, as it`s very time consuming.
Thank you very much.
Alan

Not sure if this is the right part of the forum to ask this?

Please read my question again..........

With Bulk rename utility, you are renaming all the files the same....I want to upload 200 files to Flickr, all have different file names, So when i upload to Flickr, the JPeg/file name is totally different to the previous one, hence my database is done in Excel.
So now, I upload to Flickr, but have to manually copy and paste the data from my spreadsheet to Flickr.

As i have asked, is there an easier way of changing the Jpeg names, all different from my spreadsheet to Flickr without copy and pasting 200 times?

Can you give an example of what your files are named, and what you want it changed to?

Hello
I name my files the location of where I have taken the picture....I want to name the files the Name of the company and registration of the truck, so basically every file name will be totally different to the previous one.
The examples are as follows.......
BIA 06753 - Adampol
PK69 YHZ - DHL
BV16 RYR - Hingley Transport
FP66 KUC - Tradebe Healthcare
S730 DEW - J.D. Dew Bulk Haulage
FM19 BMA - Sterling Services
KR 9622 - Multilog
21 PN 59 - LogiFreight
PN16 OVF - BCA Automotive
WM16 BKE - Rawlings Transport

That is ten different pictures, all taken at the same place, so they have all the same file names, but I want to add them to Flickr so the title is the company name and reg number.
Thanks

Says who?

You only rename the ones YOU TELL THE APP to rename. You're not required to rename every image you're working with at the moment.

If you have 2,000 images you want to rename into ten 200-image sets, you run 200 images through at a time.

That's a lot faster that ONE at a time.

I think you've created a monster. I'm still not exactly sure what you're talking about. The above(below?) list are Titles, not File names...

BIA 06753 - Adampol isn't a file name... Dsc_123.nef is a file name. Adampol.jpg is a file name...

Maybe you can clarify????

OK.........
So if i got 10 Jpegs, all with the same name IE M42Jun5.01082020.......and i want to rename them all different, for uploading to Flickr as follows...............
BIA 06753 - Adampol
PK69 YHZ - DHL
BV16 RYR - Hingley Transport
FP66 KUC - Tradebe Healthcare
S730 DEW - J.D. Dew Bulk Haulage
FM19 BMA - Sterling Services
KR 9622 - Multilog
21 PN 59 - LogiFreight
PN16 OVF - BCA Automotive
WM16 BKE - Rawlings Transport

How do i do this on this as a batch lot?

You want to rename 10 files to 10 new filenames? You can't 'batch process' that.

That`s the answer i was expecting, so just to confirm, there isn`t a program available on the web at all to allow me to do this, so I have to manually edit each picture`s file name when uploading to flickr?

I apologize for being dense... but M42Jun5.0108202 is not a file name, and you cannot have a disk file system with 10 files named the same...

What exactly is the file that you are getting OFF the memory card in your camera?

Thank you, that`s what I was expecting.
So, I have say...200 Jpegs with the same name, i want to re-name them all different, I have to, basically re-name them one at a time, 200 times in total.....and there isn`t a batch editing program that will allow me to upload my 200 pictures, and then allow me to batch edit the names which i have taken off my excel spreadsheet and paste in the program to change the names..?

First, how did the filename become M42Jun5.01082020.JPG or M42Jun5.01082020.NEF?

So lets say you have 10 files:

M42Jun5.01082020.JPG
M42Jun5.01082021.JPG
M42Jun5.01082022.JPG
M42Jun5.01082023.JPG
M42Jun5.01082024.JPG
M42Jun5.01082025.JPG
M42Jun5.01082026.JPG
M42Jun5.01082027.JPG
M42Jun5.01082028.JPG
M42Jun5.01082029.JPG
M42Jun5.01082030.JPG

And you want to rename those 10 files to:

BIA 06753 - Adampol.jpg
PK69 YHZ - DHL.jpg
BV16 RYR - Hingley Transport.jpg
FP66 KUC - Tradebe Healthcare.jpg
S730 DEW - J.D. Dew Bulk Haulage.jpg
FM19 BMA - Sterling Services.jpg
KR 9622 - Multilog.jpg
21 PN 59 - LogiFreight.jpg
PN16 OVF - BCA Automotive.jpg
WM16 BKE - Rawlings Transport.jpg

(assuming your OS allows hyphens and periods in the filenames)

No renaming utility can do that any better than simply renaming them one at a time. In both cases, you need to specify ONE file at a time, then enter the new name in.

I have no idea how to do it from Excel. This is the only way I know how to rename files using a batch renaming process. Doing it this way will generate more of a sequential order rather than a whole bunch of different names.

That`s what I was expecting....so a very long and slow progress.....Let`s hope someone who is a whizz on inventing new programs can invent one!

Thank you very much for your replys.

Thanks for this, but as you have written, they are in sequential order rather than a whole bunch of different names, and the whole bunch of different names is what I`m after.
Regards.

It's already been invented. Geo Tagging software embeds the location data in the EXIF data. You'd just need a database translation to translate that data to Street/highway names rather than a map coordinate... Police departments frequently use scanning software to find and pick-out a vehicle's license and registration info from images... Would be a simple process to combine those two bits of information into a file naming process...

So you rename them twice? Why?

Even if there was an app to rename them, you'd still have to individually select and enter a name for each file. You'd only save the step of pressing "Enter"
