Jake's Compilation of Video Tutorials

Occasionally I will throw together a very short video tutorial for someone using the principle if a picture is worth a thousand words then a video is work one hundred thousand. I upload these to YouTube, but because a) I am usually using someone else's photo in the example, and b) I have no interest in incurring the rather of others who will comment on it when they find it and tell me how I'm "doing it wrong" or managing the comments of how "they can do it better", I've uploaded these videos as Unlisted, which means anyone can watch them, but they will not come up in searches for the subject matter.

Yesterday @hark pinged me and told me she'd been looking for one of them and couldn't find it, and asked me for the link. These are mostly buried in someone's 365 thread, or something similar, so it would be possible to find them here if you looked long enough. But thinking that she's probably not the only person who might want to find one again I thought I'd create a thread with all of them, along with a link to the original post. I'll try to remember to maintain this as I create additional videos.

Edit to add a Video Title TOC Link at Browncoat's suggestion:

You are so very kind, Jake! Think a lot are gonna enjoy this thread.
Funny hearing your voice, I pictured you younger but your voice sounds pretty grown up.

Just a thought, Jake:

Might want to edit your first post to be a table of contents with links to the videos. As you continue to post the individual videos and people comment in this thread, it's going to be more and more difficult to navigate.

Jake, thank you for posting all of these in one place. The video I couldn't find is Scott Murray's photo with the levels adjustment. I didn't even know what the technique was called so I couldn't do any online searching to find information.

Just one quick question...since I am shooting RAW and using Lightroom, is there any way to do this in Lightroom? If I open the RAW (or DNG) files in Photoshop first, what file format would I use to then import it into LR? The students' theater photos have such extremes between the dark areas of the stage vs the light colors of their faces that any adjustments to lighten the dark areas results in extra noise (last ones were shot at ISO 2000 so there is already some noise present). Any ideas on how I can make levels adjustments with RAW or DNG files in Lightroom?

What do I look like, a moderator?! LOL

If they make it a sticky then MAYBE I'll add jump links. ;)

Holy crap! I saw this video and played with levels for like ten minutes. I think you just improved my PP skills with, like, 100%!

It is the first thing I do when I get into PS, even if I've done light adjustments in LR. It can not be underestimated how much power there is in just setting your end points finding the home for the midpoint slider.

I've been fiddling with the end points for som time, but for some reason missed to figure out the point of the mid point. Now it makes sense, and I've been able to come a LONG way further with some half bad shots that I revisited.

Nice vid! :)

This is the video I was hunting for but couldn't find. It's terrific that Jake decided to keep them all in one place for quick reference! :)
