Test Sigma 150-600mm C with z6ii

Received a new (hopefully) sigma 150-600mm C recently from AMZ. Being testing it with my z6ii mainly for sharpness at 600mm. The first stage of shooting still objects was about done, yet no opportunity for testing moving objects with auto-tracking (any suggestion for moving objects other than wildlife, e.g., birds). The following images are all handheld AF, @600mm, and non-cropped except the Moon shots at the end which are 100% cropped. Would appreciate your comments on whether Dock- refining is needed for this lens.

(this one is surprisingly in sharpness and details)

Congrats @blackstar on your new Sigma 150-600c. I love my copy and I find it performs very well at 600mm. However on my extensive research prior to buying I noted that a few 'experts' on youtube claimed that the lens is supposedly sharper at 550mm than it is at 600mm. I really haven't done at tests myself as I'm more than happy with the 600mm results.

Worth noting, as per my contact with Sigma, the three small screws at the end of the lens barrel can come loose and it's worth checking and tightening occasionaly.

Interesting! My Sigma 150-600cc C has four small screws at the end of the lens and they have never come loose (knock on wood). Does Sigma have two different lens designs?

Not sure, but when I phoned them they knew exactly what I was talking about as one had fallen out. They kindly sent me several replacement screws free of charge which was very nice of them.

Planes, helicopters, balloons are a few that come to mind.

Thanks, Marilynne. Planes and copters only occasionally come by... never see any balloon flying about in this town... well wish me luck when some plane comes by I have my small cannon in hand to shoot :)

Thanks, Peter and Brent. I just removed my sigma from z6ii (make sure OS off) and took a look at the end: 4 screws there. I'll remember and keep checking.

Thanks, Peter. Do you mind sharing some of your works from Sigma @600mm? Please post here. Thanks

Congrats on your new lens @blackstar
I got my Bigma before my Z6 and painstakingly used the dock to tune it to my D7500. It went from soft just about everywhere when I bought it to sharp all over after the tune with the dock. Once I got the Z6, I tried the camera/lens combo for sharpness and was very happy with the results. Either the tune I did on the lens through the dock for the D7500 works well for the Z6, or more likely, the Z doesn't have a need for lens calibration as the focus is acquired directly on the sensor in mirrorless bodies, which means I could set those figures to anything I wanted or nothing at all and the Z takes no consideration to what those values are.
For moving subjects, I'd suggest dogs, cats, squirrels. Bonus points for a dog thats chasing a cat thats chasing a squirrel!

Hey, TT.

I so hope you are right about Z's no need for Sigma dock cause I haven't ordered one, but plan to soon. So no hurry now. Always appreciate your insightful info.

@blackstar and @Bikerbrent It is not the screws at the end of the lens that attaches to the camera, but the opposite end near where the lens hood attaches (eg. you don't have to remove the lens from the camera)
