Dock/firmware for Sigma 150-600 lenses question

Has anyone used the Sigma dock for updating or adjusting their 150-600 C lenses? Just curious about your thoughts. While I'm pleased with the lenses performance. I was thinking about getting the dock since their are updates that claim to improve the auto focus and sharpness.

Yes, I have used the dock with my 150-600 C and it works great. Did the latest update and it did seem improve lens performance. Have not played around with the adjustments because I believe in the old saying, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it"

Thanks Brent! I agree with you about the "If it ain't broken, don't fix it" as well. And I'm glad to hear that you felt it improved the performance. I'll be ordering the dock soon.

I'm glad I got it. I forget what I tweeked though, lol. Somewhere along the line, things got better with this lens. Not that they were bad, but I got pretty good with this lens. Might have just been practice or maybe an update improved things. I set C1 and C2 to my liking and I think I tweeked one of the focus distances too. I wrote it down but its not with me at the moment. Sorry I don't have solid info, but I'll say I'm glad I got it.

I just plugged mine in to check settings. There was a new firmware update available. My C1 is set to fast auto focus and C2 to smooth af and both C1 & C2 have dynamic (most aggressive) OS set. I had also tweaked autofocus at closest range for sharper backyard shots.

My Sigma 120-300 S had a front focusing problem and I was able to correct it with the dock. I had to call Sigma tech support to find out what focal length and distances to use for calibration.

Hi Weebee,

Sorry to say, but "If it ain't broken, don't fix it" is a saying from somewhat old people who lives in fear that it's always going wrong...
(Sorry Brent, this is not a personal attack... I always respect your opinions... and living in fear isn't your stile.)
That docking station is for AF fine tuning.
Where you can "AF fine tune" your lens at only one spot in your camera, you can "AF fine tune" in your 150-600 lens at 16 (!!) places.
You also can tweek some AF settings and Image Stabiliser setting.
In addition, you can also install new firmware. If you haven't a docking station, you have to go to your dealer or a service centre.
I have that 150-600 C lens right from the start, the firmware update did the AF improve a lot. And more with the use of the Sigma TC-1401 1.4x extender.
If you have a lens, which you can tweek with a docking station (Tamron or Sigma), it's a must to have it.
Use such a docking station and you are in control.

I don't live by that saying by any means. I was just more interested in updating the firmware at this time. BTW, I'm not a spring chicken either!!;) Thanks all for the input. I will order one soon.
