Dear All,

I recently purchase a TC-301 Tele convertor for Tokina ATX 300mm F2.8 to fit with my Nikon D4 however the TC-301 fits on the camera but not on the Rear end of the Tokina lens.

Could some one please advise which Teleconvertor should i purchase on my Tokina atx 300mm f2.8

Thanks,
Nareshp

Well... I have the 1.4X version and it works on my Tokina 100-300mm 5.6, and my Tokina 24-70 2.8 and my Tokina 11-16mm 2.8... The issue is whether the rear element of the lens extends beyond the base of the mount into the body. If it does, it won't work. If it doesn't, then it will work.

As far as fitting is concerned most should fit from what i can see, the TC301 is an exception with its design, if a 2 x would give decent results is a different story.

Most teleconverters are designed to work with their own brand of lens so interchanging them may not work. Kenko is an aftermarket brand that tends to be more universal.

That said, Kenko is part of Tokina. You should contact them and ask. No doubt they could quickly confirm or deny a Kenko teleconverter would work. And if there is a Kenko teleconverter that would fit, they'd be able to recommend one or two. Usually a 1.4x teleconverter tends to offer a better image than a 1.7x or 2.0x. And that goes for most brand of teleconverters. Kenko isn't always as sharp as a Nikon or Sigma teleconverter, but it also doesn't have the higher price tag.
