The local rep got the Product VP involved, so they seem intent on making sure I have a fully functioning lens.

I'm very interested in this as I am strongly considering purchasing this lens. Mainly for the weather sealing...

UPDATE: Got the lens back and so far so good. I have had it out on three outings so far. They packed the lens and camera well enough that it would have survived just about anything UPS could throw at them.

    Re: Tamron 150-600mm G2 Problems

    Update:

The lens occasionally started to refuse to autofocus again after couple of weeks. I lived with it, but then is started to get much worse, and would stick at infinity, stick at minimum, or fail to close down the aperture to the correct f-stop. To make really sure it was the lens and not my D500, I used it for the last couple of weeks exclusively with my D7200. The same problems came up, and it was to the point that something would happen every ten shots or so at the end of my outing yesterday.

So, today I wrote the Tamron rep with this information to see what the next step should be. I'll keep you informed, since I know some people with an interest in this lens have been following this thread.

I am also having the same issue all of a sudden. On the last two outings, I had to dismount and remount the lens to get AF to return. On the last, I also got a very loud metallic click a few times, when pressing the shutter. I was using burst mode and when it happens, everything freezes until I release the shutter button. This is the same sequence had with my G1, which was finally replaced after 3 attempted fixes. I haven't had time to do much shooting lately so am muddling through, but when I finally get home it is going back to Tamron.
