Hi just got myself the sigma 17-50 2.8 used but in fab condition
all is fine very sharp and I'm happy with my bargain
After a few short sessions , just around home I've noticed the lcd screen stays on when replaying shot
even reviewing shots later the screen doesn't turn of OK I can live with that now I know , tried reset , battery out and back , checked timers same result swapped lens and all back to normal
Any of you guys with this lens had a similar problem
just to add, touching shutter button or any other button turns lcd off

It's a known issue with that particular lens/body combination. To my knowledge there is no known fix, workaround or solution.

According to Sigma: "This behavior is related to the operation of the OS unit of the lens when it is used in conjunction with the Nikon D7100. The OS unit stays in communication with the camera body for about 1 minute after a camera’s auto-off feature shuts down the camera between exposures while still in the on mode. This is because our lenses are designed to stand by for operation; Nikon cameras have no provision for determining the status of the OS unit. This will also cause the need to press the multi selector of the Nikon D7100 each time to scroll or zoom in when reviewing your images on the D7100 LCD screen. These symptoms only occur on the Nikon D7100 camera, there is nothing wrong with the lens. If and when you recognize the phenomena mentioned above, please note they will not cause any malfunction to the camera body, you can keep using our products without any worry."

I have this lens for about a month now. I noticed that it keeps the meter active much longer for some reason, about 90 seconds. I just tried reviewing an image and that stays on for about 90 seconds as well. The meter turns off a few seconds after that. I think they tried to mention this in the user manual but it lost something in the translation. Under the English notice section it says something to the effect that the os is powered from the camera and puts the stabilizer in a known position regardless of os switch position and the active status will take approximately one minute from turning the camera on or half pressing the shutter button. That's not the exact words, I don't have the manual in front of me. It confused me, it sounded like they were saying it would take one minute to get ready, but I think they meant it would stay active for one minute. And it appears it keeps the camera fully awake. Anyway, it sounds like mine does the same as yours. I'm sure this runs the battery down faster, even with just keeping the meter on longer. Nice lens though, very sharp.

Thanks for your input Nckt , what exactly do you mean by the Meter being active
The led viewfinder display is on and the top ldc is illuminated. Metering is active too while those items are lit up. It stays on for about 90 seconds where as with other lenses (or no lens at all) it turns off after 10 seconds. That 10 seconds it set by the standby timer in the menu. This is on my d7200.
