The Tamzooka at a pro tennis match.

I was in Charleston last weekend for the Volvo Car Open, a professional women's tennis tournament. John McEnroe and Andy Roddick were also there for an exhibition match, though I only got to see them doing a clinic with some local players. The women players on this opening weekend were not the stars, they were fighting to qualify to get a spot in the real tournament. That meant we could get closer than normal. I had only a D800 with the Tamron 150-600:

Nice work. That lens is certainly more manageable than the 300mm f/2.8 and 600mm f/4 AIS's I use to cover sports. The 300mm f/2.8 is hand holdable but the 600mm f/4 "Beast" is a monopod at least. Just the lens is 14 pounds.

Yeah, all of these shots were handheld with the VC on. I set the shutter speed and aperture manually and left the camera set to Auto-ISO.
