Nikon TC-14E III for $475 or Nikon TC-14E II for $245? Is the new one worth the extra lens money?

From my own experience I don't see a huge difference in real life. I was fortunate in that I found an TC-14 E III being sold locally dirt cheap, it was too good a deal to pass up. So I purchased it, honestly I can't say as I saw any difference at all using it in conjunction with my Nikkor 70-200mm 2.8 VRI.

Upside though I sold the EII for more than what I paid for the EIII - so it all worked out well enough for me. But unless you can get a really good deal like I did, I'd probably recommend you go with the EII

Answers are already here. But for the sake of all information in a single post, unless you have a newer lens incompatible with the old TC, save your money and go with the old one. I did and I'm more than OK with it.

What others have said and my opinion was the same as Jake's. @BackdoorHippie
I have the II (I bought used from Robert's Camera) and in the limited use I have put it to it does fine with the lenses and cameras I own.
