Nikon 28-300 FX Lens - Taking Apart

Hi there,

I have a 28-300 that I primarily shoot with on my D810. I love the lens, it is very versatile at all ranges I find. I have a piece of dust that is right behind the front glass that I've noticed while cleaning it. I keep my equipment in excellent shape always in a case etc so this is killing me! I can't see it in my pictures, but, wondering what is involved in getting behind the front glass to get it. Any tips? I've seen some vids on YT about just unscrewing it from the back and taking it apart - is that my only way to address it?

If I were you, I wouldn't chance taking it apart. Dust is a given with zoom lenses and as long as you can't see it in the pictures......

You're probably best off leaving it be until it is an issue that needs fixing. Then send it to Nikon so that it can be done right.

Dust toward the front of the lens doesn't affect anything. Don't worry with it.
