Bit of wiggle between 750 body and 300mm f/4 AF-S

I just received my used 300mm f/4 AF-S from Adorama. Rated E+, it cost me $900. I don't have any prior experience with the lens, and the difference between tack-sharp and something very close is difficult for me to discern as a hobbyist.

The problem is that there is a tiny amount of play between the lens and the body, which leaves me with a few questions. To be clear, neither of my other lenses (24-120mm, 17-35mm) have this "problem" so I don't think it's an issue with my D750 - both feel as if the camera and lens are one solid unit. So here are my questions:

1. Is this "normal"? Is it a known issue?
2. If it isn't, will it eventually damage or prematurely wear the D750 contacts?
3. Does loose fit degrade image quality? (keep in mind that the amount of play is very, very negligible)

You often get a little wiggle from none Nikon lenses because they have to reverse engineer the mount, ime surprised to hear it about a Nikon lens

I think a small amount is not unusual. I've had it on different bodies with Nikon and third party lenses.

Same here, a little. Not anything that moves on its own but you have to move it yourself and its only a little. Even had one lens that made me nervous to put on because it was so tight, but later traded it in for another one.
