And it wears my d810 with battery grip as a rear lens cap!!!Seriously it's a monster.I heard everyone say its heavy but being a strong guy I thought I could be the one to tame it.How wrong I was!!!!I can handhold it and take a few shots but it gets tiring quickly.
A few observations
The OS is very good. Not as "lock on" as VC but decent nonetheless.
Build quality is SOLID
The IQ is excellent.
It was overcast when I took her out so I was limited by the aperture to keep my shutter speed over 1k.
I'll go to the zoo at the weekend if the weather is good but I think this will be an excellent lens in the right conditions
A monopod will be needed, that's for sure.
Pics to come:):)

Sorry fir the lateness of the replies guys.
Havent really been using my gear much lately as I have a 11 week old son and I was doing other things.
Had the sigma out yesterday and its heavy!!I don't have a monopod but I think I'll pick one up soon.
Youll need a nice sunny day to have low ISO due to the small aperture of 5-6.3 but you knew that.
I also got the sigma dock and haven't used it but I think I might as the lens needs it I think.

Does it do macro?

Normally the longer the lens the longer the minimal focusing distance. (non macro lenses) For example my 18-55 lens or my 50mm will focus at about a foot distance. My 200-500mm lens will focus at 7 feet or more.

I can get a closer shot of a flower/bug or whatever the subject with the 18-55 then with my 200-500mm .

Minimum focus distance alone is not a measurement of whether a lens is macro or not. The lens' reproduction ratio is.
