Hi I have been given this lens its a Tokina SZ-X 210 (I think the person just wanted to get rid of it) does any one know if it will work on my D5100 its 70 - 210 F4 with a bayonet fitting.

Just wanted to check before I try it

I would compare the mount of one of your Nikon lenses, to the mount on the Tokina in order to see if they match up. This lens was made in three mounts: Nikon F, Canon EF and Pentax K. Perhaps look for some distinguishing mark or lettering on the lens that may lead you what mount the lens may be.

Tokina had multiple levels of quality for their MF lenses. The AT-X series was usually brilliant. The SZ-X series was, in most users' opinion, not very good at all. They were built for the budget conscious. My advice, use that particular lens as a paperweight - don't waste any money on adapters and such. That lens likely just won't be worth it.
