Hi Guys
I am looking for a little more reach so I am thinking of buying a converter. Has anyone used this on a 55-300S DX, 300f4 D, or 80-200 2.8D? Also thinking of a TC14 II if it will auto focus on my wife's 5100. I am just trying to get a little more bang for my buck before I shell out for another prime.
Thanks Guys
Harle

Nikon has a compatibility page for those TCs... and it tells you the exact models of lenses that they're compatible with... If it's NOT on the list, it won't work... and you risk damaging the lens... The list is rather limited to mostly primes, and not many zooms...

There were different versions of TCs for the "D" series... Nikon has been consistent with TCs... they don't mix & match... Be very careful... Best thing to do is find a dealer with the TC you want, bring your lenses, and test them....gently...

TCs are very lens specific... they aren't very forward/backward compatible...

I live in a "city of over three hundred thousand, this population will not support a real photography store! The best we have is best buy, the sales people are not very knowledgeable.

Going through some older Nikon books and found what may be the answer to my prroblem TC14a 2.8 80-200 and TC14b for my 300f4. Book is: "Nikon System Handbook", sixth edition, by Moose Peterson. It has quite a bit of info on older lenses.

Anyone have any experience with the tc 14 ii on the new 300 f/4 ed vr. I am hoping not to have to swap up to the tc 14 iii. Thanks for any feedback.

You'll need a Kenko 1.4x pro 300 for those screw drives.
