How about these.

Taken with my D3100 with the 18-55 kit lens and cropped, hence not best quality. Looking for a 55-300 to get closer in the future.

My granddaughter and I are members of a local sailing club going on two years now and we've had a drive on to try and attract new members "juniors", at the moment we have about six that turn up most days...

Membership costs about 60 dollars a year which is the only cost...The club has three classes Lasers, Flying elevens and Sabots plus a few other boats that can be raced...

Costs a parent $120+ to play cricket...

If this had been available when I was a kid you wouldn't have kept me away...

Did I hear correctly that one of the replicas was destroyed in the latest hurricane..
The replica for the HMS Bounty was sunk by Hurricane Sandy off the coast of North Carolina. Ironically the lone fatality
(so far, the Captain is still listed as missing) of the sinking was Claudene Christian a 42 year old adventurer, who it turns out is distantly related to Fletcher Christian, who lead the crew in the original mutiny on the HMS Bounty in 1789 near the island of Tonga.

MG14s and NS14s Alan. Very nice boats and great images. Neither of those classes really exist in the UK. Only one NS14 I believe.Heres a shot I took in Sept. when I was principle race officer for our Laser open meetingLaser Open.JPGPaul

Thanks...I think Lasers are great because of the simplistic rigging of them...

I bought an old one for our Granddaughter...Her and one of her friends sail it most Saturdays..

We put a 4.7 rig on it to make it easier for them to manage..

Nice pic...Are you still involved in the club...

Hi Alan,

Yes I'm very much involved in my local SC.

We are lucky over here in the UK to have loads of classes of dinghys especially for kids.

One of the reasons I bought my camera was to try and get some good sailing images, although most of the time I'm out on the water!
