Oh, The Places You'll Go!

To steal a line, actually a book title, from Dr. Seuss, "Oh, The Places You'll Go!"

From the knowledge shared by Krs_2007 a while ago, and shooting a small tournament, I was hired to shoot two wrestlers competing in the Utah State Wrestling Tournament tomorrow and the next day. Which has since evolved into requests to shoot other wrestlers. In this day and age people do occasionally recognize the quality work produced with the right tools. In other words - NOT USING A CELL PHONE OR IPAD to capture your child wrestling. I've just finished packing up my gear, charging batteries, and collecting enough memory cards to play a game of checkers. Which leaves just one thing, actually two.

Second, the appreciation of this forum. There is so much information and knowledge shared that would be difficult to assemble without this valuable resource.

First, thank you Krs_2007 for sharing your insight and experience shooting wrestling. Like many of us on here, we can figure it out on our own. But when we want that insight to make a task that much easier, like Krs_2007, there are plenty of great fellow photographers more than willing to share the knowledge and or experience they have.

With that said, thank you forum and Kevin (secretly in hiding as Krs-2007, but we don't mention his real identity).

For new people on this forum, regardless of experience level, you won't find a better group of photographers. And always follow the natural ratio of listen twice as much as you speak. There is a reason for two ears and only one mouth. Nothing alienates faster than to ask a question and then tell all the people trying to help how they're wrong. Makes others wonder why you asked in the first place.

Off to bed here pretty quick as it will be a very long two days of shooting.

Thank you everyone.

George

Great news, and weren't you previously worried about a school photographer being an obstacle?

Well sounds like everything has worked out very well and we all are looking forward to your results.

Appreciate it George, I try to live by pay it forward.

This is a great site and I have been on the receiving side as well, so glad I could provide something of use.

Ironically as my wrestling opportunity ends this spring, yours is starting so you have the baton and I know you won't let us down.

Good luck to the wrestlers and yourself, it's going to be a missed addiction.

FYI, the coach and the parents are trying to talk me into coming back next year. I told them I might come back for a few duals. Remember to work the relationships as well.

Be safe and happy shooting

Wow! The worst lighting ever. No outside light and office lighting hung too high and too spaced out to be of use. Ugly does not begin to describe it. The images fall under the category of better to have a grainy image than no image.

Here are a quick few. Have to get to bed for an early morning start again.

Found out today from one of the wrestling parents that one of my images has been stolen and used on some national wrestling organizations Facebook page captioned "Wrestle With Passion." He showed it to me on his phone, I haven't been able to locate it on my own. I'm not upset, but do plan to contact them to say at least credit me for the image.

Wish the feet hadn't been cut off, but the wrestler doing the throw didn't take into consideration how close he was to me before throwing his opponent. :)

Yea, that is a common problem. I assume you had your sig on the picture like the above. Great job, looks like a good time and something I will miss.
