Moving some things to different server - you may see some weirdness

Hey everyone! Some of you have noticed I've been doing some updates lately. I have one more thing I want to do that may make the site funny for about a day. I'm moving where some files are loaded from, to put it simply.
Once this is complete, things should be faster than ever!
I'll try to make it as seamless as possible, but if you see some weirdness, try clearing your cache, and reload.

Everything is mostly complete. Let me know if you see a difference in speed, especially in threads with a lot of pics!

I just got back out here after the note earlier today. It seems faster loading others photo posts... at least to me. It is about the same loading the shoutbox and list but the photos on the three threads I looked at loaded fast...

I went to @wevs thread to catch up and I was amazed how much faster it loaded and it did not do the weird bouncing around that it did some times when I opened the page. The photos loaded very quickly and even before the shout box loaded. I saw a big difference in Chrome. I tried the latest purchase thread as well and it popped too.

Looks like you changes worked @jdeg

I don't see any appreciable difference, but I am probably the last person to ask. . .

Great glad to hear it! People in different countries looking at threads with lots of pics will see the greatest difference.

If you live in the central US you probably won't see much of a difference at all.

Let me know if anything changes for you. It may since I'm changing the location of some of the files that control the uploader.

I just did another trial and it has changed -- it used to take 10 or 15 seconds before the upload failed. Now it happens in less than a second.

Painfully slow to load for me this morning
Does it seem to be hanging up on anything in particular? Any page in particular?
It does with jpeg and png; do you want me to try a gif or tiff?

If it also doesn't work with png, it's not a file type issue, but something with the uploader.

Can you try something in Chrome for me quickly?

  1. On any thread page, go to quick reply and click the "insert image" icon
  2. press Ctrl+Shift+I
  3. Ctrl+F on the Dev tools window
  4. Paste in "clientscript/yui/uploader/assets/uploader.swf" into the search box

Is that file found in the source code? If so, does it load without throwing an error? (like a 404)

The uploader works fine in Chrome and always has. The issue is with FF.

The code is found in FF consul, just as it is in Chrome. I am not sure what you mean by load? The add image window opens fine and I can select a file, but as soon as I click 'upload file', I get the red x indicator and I'm dead. No actual upload progress is indicated. If I then close and reopen the add image dialog, I have no Basic Uploader option. I have to do a ctrl/refresh of the page to start again.

Okay, got it - so one of two things is happening:

Something in Firefox is blocking the flash player plugin. (Old versions of flash player are blocked by FF - check this page: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/)

Something is specifically blocking flash uploads on this site. Since regular uploads work, it's specific to flash uploads.
