Red Box In pictures

So I was taking some pictures today with my D3100. When I viewed them I found that 3 of them had a red box on them (focus point ?) I'm trying to figure out what caused this and how to prevent it from happening again .

If you are looking at them through viewnx2, you need to deselect "show focus point"

You're talking about what you see on your LCD screen, right? It's one of the buttons on the left side, back of your camera. I think it's the one with the magnifying glass icon. Hit that button again to make it go away. But again.....I could be wrong. I know it's one of those buttons, though! lol

lol, I wasn't sure either Jack! We both had a 50/50 chance, at least we covered both possibilities!

I did try to post a picture but it was to large. I should have guessed the it was in the NX2 because as I viewed the uploaded picture the red box was gone !
