I just did an office party last friday and it was DARK im talking just a couple of lights way overhead and some christmas lights strung over the top. I used my D600 and my newly aquired Sigma 24-70 f2.8 as well as my Nikon 85mm f1.8 (which did much better than the Sigma). I also had my sb-700 mounted as well if needed. I had a make shift studio set up in a small room with a studio strob, umbrella, and silver reflector. I am going to post some shots of how it turned out. All of the candid walk around photos were on 4000 ISO and some were even at 6400 ISO and as long as I didn't crop any pics they came out awesome. I took over 600 pics edited down to roughly 260 and uploaded them on to a website where the guests could buy there photos and so far so good. Here they are. Thanks

Well I was shooting the 85 at 2.8 the same that the sigma was shot at and the focus was dead on in that dark atmoshpere where as the Sigma hunted back and forth a few tries before it would finally lock on so I guess I meant that the Nikon 85mm was a faster focus and it seemed to create a smoother bokeh just an all around better lens.
Thanks for asking and I hope I answered that well enough.
