Optimal Lens for skyline shooting

Dear respected members and dignitaries,


What lens would you recommend for shooting skylines (both day or night) and under $400. I have a Nikon D3200 with kit lens I'm unsure whether my kit lens would be sufficient for skyline shooting 18-55mm VR f/3.5-5.6 AF-S Nikkor zoom lens. Is my current lens sufficient enough? Or should I get a new lens for this purpose.

your kit lens should be fine for starters, remember to use a tripod for your night shot. Shot both vertical and horizontal and at various focal lengths, stitch photos together as needed

Listen to nikonpup. Use what you have till you use it up. After a while you will see that it does what you want but you will still want more. Learn the kit lens first.

Post a few of your shots as you go along.
