Taylor Lake, CA

The Dude
Taylor lake is a holding pond off of the Colorado River as it traverses the Sonoran desert near Yuma. The desert on each side of the river/lake area is extremely dry and hot but when you walk near the river/lake the humidity goes from ~5% to 99% in as few as 10 steps. It's unlike anything I've ever experienced. 10 steps west and you're in crisp dry air, 10 steps east and it feels like Miami in Aug. There are few places on this planet that are at such extremes in so small an area.
