D3100 Broken

My wife left my D3100 sitting on the chair and my 1 yr old grabbed the neck strap and it hit the floor. (Yea it has a neck strap for a reason.) Anyways, I got home and she told me so I tried 2 different lenses but I get pictures that are almost all shadow except for the top. I was hoping this is fixable and wondering what you think will need fixed? I would like to have an idea for when I drop it off somewhere to be fixed. I have a picture here to show you what it is doing.

Oh man that sucks, hope the little is okay, sounds like you need to send it in to get repaired. Almost like the mirror is stuck.

Looks like the mirror is not opening all the way or the timing is off. Does it look like the mirror is sitting in the correct position? I'd hate for you to take it in for service and it's an easy fix.

Yeah, I've seen examples of this before. The mirror has been whacked out of position. Definitely not a do-it-yourself fix. Send it in to a real good camera shop to get this fixed.

LWB is correct. I was about to write off my D3100 until I saw this thread. Followed the steps and it saved my camera too. I was very happy to have found this thread!
