Hi All,

I've purchased a brand new 24-70mm 2.8 and noticed that it had some flakes behind the front element. Has anyone else had this problem? Is this 'normal'?

This is a fairly well known issue for this lens and on the bright side, it will not interfere with the lenses function nor will it show up in your images, however, I would not want to keep a lens that has these flakes and would strongly suggest you return it for an exchange.

Yes. What in the world? I haven't heard of that before. Picture definitely tells a thousand words. I'd return that sucker for a new new one. If I'm paying that much cash, I want pristine condition out of the box for sure.

Made me run and check mine, no excuse Nikon for allowing a lens in this price range to show such poor quality control, anyone checking before items leave your plants?

Thank you all for your responses. I have since shipped the lens back to B&H for an exchange. Hopefully the second copy will be flawless.
