I was looking at the HS football pics and reading the feedback for stopping the action. I am a new D7000 owner this summer (upgraded from a point-n-shoot) and still VERY much at the beginning of the learning curve. I have attempted to put in 2 typical shots from my daughters soccer games. My goal is to shoot pictures of her soaring out of the 1/2 pipe and racing boardercross on her snowboard this winter that freeze her mid action. Any feedback that anyone has to offer would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I think you need a faster shutter speed. The pictures are just on the blurry side...

I've done a little sports photography and I found that the closer in I got the better my images looked. Try using your largest zoom lens and get in their tight. Both kids and parents love it when they can clearly see their own kids, especially when they get this "sports illustrated" look to them.

Below are all images taken with my D70s.

Those are great shots. I always feel like I shouldn't frame the shot close enough to crop out body parts, but I can see the benefits. I have been shooting wider and cropping later which has been affecting the clarity.

Faster Shutter speed. Thats where my experiments are leading me as well. What is the highest ISO you would recommend using to "freeze" the action without getting distortion and noise if some cropping is needed? WHile you're still here......If I wanted to print some pictures or have them printed on canvas, what size file should I be using? I have been using medium/fine but I havent actually tried to print anything yet. Canvas would be around 18x24. Photos would be probably 14x20 or so. Thanks so much for helping. I don't post much but I do read a lot. Marcel and Mojo you are both quite helpful to new users like myself.
