Lens help please for newbie

My daughter bought me a lens from a friend of hers. It's a [h=1]Nikon DX Zoom Nikkor 55-200mm f/4.0-5.6 AF-S G Lens[/h]As a newbie to the Nikon D3100 and non compact camera's I don't know if it will fit and don't want to try until I know it will. I would appreciate your advice please.

Yes it sure will. Perhaps this link will help alleviate a bit of confusion on which lenses will work on your camera body. I know it can get very confusing

Oh Yea... I love my 55-200. I use if mostly for those birds and critters who refuse to let you get close enough to take a picture.
