I'm new to DSLR'S but am getting a D3100 just wondering on thoughts for lenses for the package ??

options:

1. 18-55 and a 55-200
2. 18-55 and a 55-300
3. 18-105 and a 55-300

All Vr lenses

I'm leaning to the 3rd option

thanks in advance Rb

Three is the best option if you really know what you want and qualities of the 18-105 fit your shooting style/goals. Two is a better option if you do not know your shooting style yet. If I were to do it all again, I would have started with the D5100 or D7000 and just the 18-55 until I learned my style and more about lenses.

Definitely option 3. You'll be covered from 18mm all the way to 300mm and everything in between.

Ummm! You will also be covered from 18-300mm with option #2 which is the setup I have with my D3100.

But if I had it to do it all over again, I would just get the new 18-300mm Nikkor lens that just came out. That way I would never(hardly ever) have to change lenses anymore. I currently use my 55-300mm as my main walk around lens.

Yep, I have to agree with all the guys here, I would choose option 3 if I had the chance to choose again as I chose option 1 but as i was new to DSLR's and the deal was really good thats what I chose but defo wish I had the 55-300

I currently have the 18-55, but I'm looking at getting the 55-300 soon. For the quality it seems to give, the price is a bargain!

I got my Nikon 55-300mm f/4.5-5.6G ED VR AF-S DX Nikkor Zoom Lens from Amazon.com last year in December for $249.95 with free shipping on sale. Best money I ever spent, as I now use it as my main walk around lens. It may pay you to wait a bit and see if they offer it again, before Christmas on sale again. IMO ... Its a great lens! :eagerness:
