long life to gorillapods

hi guys
I shoot with a D300
I received a gorillapod like this as a gift
I was veeeery skeptical. I feared it would be too soft or weak
then i went in london only with hand luggage in the plane. No way to take the big tripod with me.
So i took the gorillapod
and this amazing bluehour came...and i attached my camera to it...hanging from a 20th floor balcony.
I shot this one
of course the camera's "rope" was around my neck. but seeing it hangin' in the void was fearsome!
In the end i say: long life to gorillapods
there are situations where they are the only tool that can make your day!
anyone have similar experience with those weird accessories?

PS that one was the only occasion i used the gorillapod. I keep bringing the huge tripod with me all the time

I haven't used one of those yet. I did seem them before and thought they looked neat. Did yours come with a ball head or did you simply use it as pictured? This is the one I had been contemplating for travel. Would be nice to still have the option to use one without adding a lot of weight to your luggage.

I havent had my camera very long but have looked at those and, to tell the truth, they scared the hell out of me.
I am glad to actually hear that they work well. Would like to get a small one for travel.

Dont know if I would be brave enought to suspend it off of something though... not yet anyway.
