Samyang 800mm?

Hi Guys, I've seen and searched this Samyang 800mm mirror lense (also a 500mm is available) - I wandered if any of you have had an experience with this?

It doesn't have any bad reviews

what are your thoughts on this 'cheap' lense?

I am not an expert on lenses to be honest so really my input is mute!!

I wouldn't expect much from this lens, but it might be fun to play with. I assume it's manual focus; with a maximum aperture of F/8, most camera bodies couldn't autofocus even if the lens supported it. I'd certainly want to see some images, and then I'd have to figure out where I'd use such a specialized lens.

Wow! really impressed with the lens! it looks quite hard to use thou, low ISO, manual focus.. Interesting thou, yes as said by Disorderly looks like a fun piece of kit

Not sure what body you are going to be using it on, but beware that the aperture of f8 is fixed at that, focus will be manual only and as you have to use a T2 mount I suspect that you will have no metering either, if you were thinking of using the lens for wildlife photo's the animal or bird would have probably gone home by the time you have figured the exposure out ....

Oh its just something I came across during a trawl through Ebay, I doupt it would be practical on my J1 lol..

With the 2.7x focal length magnification factor on the Nikon 1 series cameras that would be the equivalent of a 2,160mm lens, might be good for astrophotography, but would need a good steady tripod
