Panorama tripod setting

The Dude
Are there any former surveyors in the group that can give me tips on how to set my tripod to be flat in less than the 5 to 10 min it seem to take me now? I know there has to be a better way than how I'm doing it now, which is just trial and error. I level the camera on the tripot pointing one direction but when I turn it I'm no longer level so I re-level it and then go back to my original and re-level it and then back and forth, etc., and I've got to believe there's an easier way to do it, right?!?

Anyone...??

what type of tripod head, I just get it close, and then since it is a ball head, I use the built in camera level function.

I was thinking the same thing. Really Right Stuff makes some great pano heads. Time to pawn the kids and upgrade?

Seriously, take a look at their website. Maybe you won't want to spring for their legs but you might get a few ideas on how it can be done (mechanically).
