How much does the D7K battery grip weigh?

Just curious how much extra weight it packs in. I know on my old 5100, I bought a third party one that weighted probably 28 grams or so.

It can't be that much more than the 3rd party unit. Whatever the actual weight is, it's not enough to where you would notice an increase. We are talking about ounces, not pounds.

It adds some weight to the camera, but with a good neck strap you won't even notice it. Also helps to offset the weight of my lenses. It's made of magnesium so it will be heavier than the 3rd party grips.

The manual says that with the extra EN-EL15 battery, it weighs 11.9 ounces.

I have a digital weight scale and it wouldn't even register one pound.

On my digital scale it weighs 11.6oz with EN-EL15 and 8.6oz without it. So the manual is pretty dead on.

You justify it by how much better it feels and fits in the hands. Also, holding an extra battery means you likely won't run out of battery in the middle of shooting.
