Lock shutter speed in M mode

Hi guys, hope someone here know of a solution. Recently, I was shooting an indoor event using M mode where I preset my S & A & ISO. I got excited over it and somehow my thumb must have shift the shutter speed while shooting.

I realise my thumb is just right there and the back dial and have to keep reminding myself to shift my hand a bit lower. Is there a lock where I can lock the shutter speed?

Regards

I have the grip on my camera and have the two wheels on the camera taped over so they cannot be moved. I use the wheels on the grip for adjustments and you can lock them with the ring around the shutter release ( dont use the release on the grip so ok locked)
A vertical grip for your D300 seems to be about $60

$60? Where are you buying your grips from?! The MB-D10 is about £250 minimum!
